The Naked Fish Ridin’ Darrty and the Oleai Team Fearless defeated separate opponents to rule their respective divisions in the Bud Light Cup of the Saipan Electronic Darts Association League held last week in various bars on the island.

The Ridin’ Darrty rallied to beat the Smoke Pub Hunters, 9-8, in the A division, while Team Fearless escaped with an 8-7 decision against the Sand Juvy 22 Snipers in the Tuesday B class in a pair of finals matches that went the full route.

Sand Juvy Put3ska ripped sister team No Fear, 8-4, (Fanihi); the Jokers Warriors trounced Ridin’ Darrty, 8-3, (Flame Tree); and Jokers Kitty Kats edged the G-Side Shooters, 8-6, (Ladies) are the other division winners.

Meanwhile, The Spartans take on Ta Chagi, while Jump It battle Bull-It in a pair of semifinals matches tonight in the Chichirika division with the two finals berths at stake. The finals will be played on Jan. 14. The Naked Fish-backed squad trailed the Hunters, 6-8, entering the last two matches in the partners event.

The pairs of James Benavente and Blaren Camacho, and Darryl Brennan and June Nunez scored consecutive wins over the tandems of Renato Barros and Modie Zamora, and Arvin Orense and Chris Omne to foil the Hunters’ title bid in their race-to-9 contest.

The Hunters were one win away from securing the title when they were beaten by Ridin’ Darrty in the Team event.

Benavente, Brennan, Camacho, and Nunez clinched the crown when they defeated Barros, Orense, Zamora, and Paul Quizon.

Ridin’ Darrty, the regular season champions, scored a 9-5 decision over the 101 Proofers in the quarterfinals and pulled off a 9-4 triumph against the Route33 Mixblood in the semifinals

The Hunters tripped sister team Comatose, 9-6, and mauled the Mafia, 9-1, to earn the right of facing Ridin’ Darrt in the finals.

Fearless pulled off an upset in the Tuesday B division as they finished second to the last in the regular season with a 91-149 record or 17 games ahead of cellar dwellers Sand Juvy Sparkz. The Snipers came in sixth in the 10-team field (115-125).

In the title match against the Snipers, Oleai and Sand Juvy entered the final Team event tied at 7-7.

The Oleai quartet of Nathan Bermudez, Ansen Jones, Byron Kaneshi and Josh Villagomez downed Rene Aguayon, Pepe Orola, Rod Paminutan and JR Vito in the Team event to seal the title win.

Fearless clipped Smoke Pub High On Darts, 8-5, to clinch a finals berth, while the Snipers nipped Marupok, 8-7, in their semifinal encounter.

The awarding of the regular season and Bud Light Cup winners is set on Jan. 25, starting at 10:30am at the Pacific Island Club-Saipan’s Charley’s Cabaret. (Jon Perez)
