Pride Marianas Youth will host the 2020 Ride4Pride Marianas motorcade this Saturday, June 27, in celebration of Pride Month as a show of solidarity and support and to honor the LGBTQIA+ community in the CNMI.

Ride4Pride Marianas will start at Kan Pacific/Marpi at 12pm and end at the American Memorial Park.

According to Jennifer Maratita, president of Pride Marianas Youth, “It’s time to advance human rights and push for positive social change that embraces inclusion. [Ride4Pride Marianas] honors the countless battles that have paved the way for progress and advancement of freedom.”

Participants of the motorcade are advised to prepare for a three-hour ride and check in at the registration tent with the Department of Public Safety. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license, valid car registration, and valid car insurance. They should also abide by all traffic rules, observe all COVID-19 social distancing regulations and are encouraged to stay hydrated and bring snacks.

June is typically celebrated as Pride Month, a declaration of self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Pride is also a time to acknowledge the tremendous work that is still left for us to do. [Ride4Pride Marianas] presents an opportunity for more unity to our Marianas and for individuals to come together to support and love one another,” said Maratita.

“On behalf of Pride Marianas Youth, the members of our LGBTQIA+ family, and all our partners, thank you for participating!” she added. (Chevy Alipio)
