Retro-pop group REtroSPECT is expecting Saturday to be one big party, ready to celebrate with local fans for a one-night only, reunion concert at the Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

Part of the proceeds of the concert will be donated to ABS-CBN’s Bantay Bata International Foundation, a non-profit social welfare program that aims to protect abused and disadvantaged children.

Leader and producer J. Martin Castro, who is now based in Guam, said they are excited to once again perform in front of the Guam and Saipan crowd. Tonight will be their concert in Guam at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort in Tamuning.

Ticket sales in Guam and Saipan had been crazy. Fiesta Saipan general manager Abner Acosta added that ticket sales on Saipan had been good with only a few VIP and general admission tickets available. Tickets cost $30 for general admission and $50 for VIP.

“Big thanks to all our kababayans (countrymen) and to all the local residents. We’re all excited to be with them,” added Castro.

Fans will be treated to a fusion of retro and electronica dance party concert as they again deliver their original Filipino songs Bakit Nga Ba? (Why are we?), Who Will?, Chika Doo, Getaway, Trilogy, It’s Party Time, and If I Don’t Love You. They will also have their own rendition of classic hits by ABBA, Earth Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Boy George, and other ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s cover songs.

Though the group is not yet planning a repeat performance of their benefit concert, Castro assured fans that they are working on a reunion album. Em-J now resides in Naples in Italy, Goldie now lives in Vancouver, while Ogie stays in Manila.

This will be REtroSPECT’s second time to hold a show on Saipan after also performing in a sold out back-to-back concert with singer Geneva Cruz last June 11, 2011, as part of the celebration of Philippine Independence Day.

The American Federation of Musicians of the U.S. and Canada certified REtroSPECT as an internationally renowned retro pop group.
