Omechelang, who took the June plum against Robert Talavera and Raymond Angeles, bowled only once in the two-day competition with his Day 1 (last Sunday) total of 883 pinfalls unbeaten after last Monday’s roll-off. The June and July champion was unstoppable in the opening day of the recent SBA roll-offs, as he knocked down 200-plus pins in all four games, registering 225, 214, 207, and 237 for an average of 220.75.
Angeles also joined the Sunday contest and was ranked fourth with his 743 (216, 179, 162, and 186) before returning for the Monday roll-off and falling short in surpassing Omechelang for the No. 1 spot. Angeles collected only 847 pinfalls, as after posting 200-plus pinfalls in the first three games (212, 231, and 213), he closed out with 191 pinfalls to settle for another runner-up honors.
Lito Teodoro rounded out the Top 3 with his Day 1 score of 820 pinfalls. Teodoro also logged more than 200 pinfalls in the first three games (204, 243, and 202) but collapsed in Game 4 with his 171 pinfalls to drop to second after the Sunday competition and eventually third after Angeles overtook him. Teodoro came back at SBC for the second and last day of the tournament, but nailed only 742 pinfalls (164, 182, 163, 233). Bowlers are allowed to compete on both days of the tournament, but only the higher score is counted.
