Sea and airport open for movement with limitations

The CNMI government, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the American Red Cross will be distributing food and water throughout Saipan at five distribution sites tomorrow Oct. 28, 2018, at 11am.

The sites will be operated in a drive-thru fashion. To ensure enough supplies are well-distributed to residents, one care package will be allotted per vehicle.

Points of distribution are:

  • Kagman Fire Station
  • San Roque Fire Station
  • Koblerville Fire Station
  • American Memorial Park
  • Ada Gymnasium

Seaport and airport movement

As of 1pm, Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port reopened the Seaport back to Condition Whiskey. Movement in and out of the port is now allowed.

Because of limited equipment, resources, capacity and damages, the Saipan International Airport will be operating during daylight hours only.

As a reminder, there will be no inbound passengers unless they are returning residents or relief effort personnel.

Tourism

CNMI leadership has been in coordination for outbound flights for about 3,200 visitors with several commercial carriers. Today, 150 tourists were on outbound flights to their countries of origin.

CNMI government estimates that all remaining tourists whose return trips were impacted by Super Typhoon Yutu will be on outbound flights on Sunday and Monday.

We will reopen as many of our service stations as possible when it is safe to do so, and give further updates.
