Relay swims cap NMISF meet
Relay races concluded action in the 2014-2015 Northern Mariana Islands Swimming Federation Championships held early this month at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool.

The 200m freestyle relays, which featured 12 teams, were not included on NMISF’s official regulated events, but participants still went all out and some managed to beat their respective seed times.
In the girls U8 division, the quartet of Tsunami Saipan swimmers Maria Batallones, Shoko Litulumar, Seiful Hong, and Ashley Dangol clocked in at 3:22.92, more than seven seconds faster than their seed time of 3:30.00.
In the girls 9 to 10, Tsunami Saipan had two teams with the foursome of Kana and Nanaka Suzuki, Asaka Litulumar, and Risa Sekiguchi submitting 3:03.93 to beat the 3:19.24 of Natsuka Nagata, Jewel Combinido, Ayumi Oligacion, and Shaunalyn Babauta.
The two other girls relay races also featured Tsunami Saipan bets. Girls 11 to 12’s Sophia Gauran, Aika Watanabe, Rei Sekiguchi, and Hannal Lacal timed in at 2:35.93, while in the over 17’s Angel De Jesus, Kyona and Daime Rivera, and Miku Tammy combined for 2:19.49 to eclipse their seed time of 2:25.00.
Tsunami Saipan’s boys U8 relay team also crushed their seed time (3:30.00) as Aasish Dangol, Hans Xu, Isaiah Aleksenko, and Manuel Babata registered 3:13.26.
In the boys 9 to 10, Saipan Swim Club’s Rintaro Miyawaki, Leo Takahashi, Jinnosuke Suzuki, and Cory Lee capped the race in 2:34.70, way ahead of the 3:25.65 of Tsunami Saipan’s Arman Rechucher, Rentaro Suzuki, Kenta Tomie, and Sean Gil.
In the boys 11 to 12, it was Tsunami Saipan’s turn to place first as Ryuto Yanai, Junh Tenorio, Nelson Battalones, and Anthony Camacho-Deleon Guerrero recorded 2:17.32, which was better than their seed time of 2:25.00. The Tsunami quarter won over the SSC foursome of Lennozuke Suzuki, Rinto Takahashi, Taiga Sato, and Akira Kadokura, who combined for 2:23.54.
Akira’s younger brother Wataru also swam in the relay, teaming up with Julie Anne and Andrei Kaith Lynn Chavez and Dino Sato in the mixed U8 division for the first time and completing the race in 3:52.53. In the other 200m freestyle relay for mixed team, Tsunami Saipan’s Kaito Yanai, Mark Maestro, Kathrine Illahi, and Ailynn Galvan clocked in at 2:36.70.
