Red Cross Walkathon this Saturday
The 33rd Annual American Red Cross Walkathon would be held this Saturday in Susupe to raise funds for the organization’s operations.
The event would begin at 6am starting at the Guma Sakman building in Susupe and offers 10K, 5K, and 2K courses.
Each $20 donation gets you a T-shirt and giveaways.
Additional giveaways such as sandwiches and refreshments are also offered to those who participate as well as a community fair, blood pressure checks, immunizations, cooking demonstrations, carnival games, face painting, bounce houses, and a fire truck and military vehicle show.
The organization is also giving away free Pacific Islands Club Saipan waterpark passes, a $10 fuel voucher for Mobil, a $5 Arch card for McDonald’s Saipan, and a F’real smoothie or shake for all walkers who are able to raise $75 on their pledge forms.
The walkathon would be held on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
According to Saipan Tribune archives, over 3,000 individuals participated back in 2017, with over 2,000 participants on Saipan. It was able to raise over $70,000.
As usual every year, the proceeds raised from the walkathon, according to a previous interview with American Red Cross-NMI Chapter executive director John Hirsh, would go to the operations of the ARC, which mostly consists of humanitarian work as well as promoting healthy living.
