The NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross announced yesterday that the Transpacific Group of Companies will again be the premier sponsor for this year’s Walkathon.

“We are grateful and pleased that the Coke-Subway-Foremost-Scoops- Glimpses group of companies will be supporting the Red Cross event,” said John Hirsh, executive director of the NMI Chapter. “Transpac has a long track record of helping our community, particularly with events focused on fitness”

This year’s walkathon will take place on Saipan, Rota and Tinian on April 1.

In addition to the 10K the event will have a 5K and Head Start 2K course for the younger children.

A $20 donation to the Red Cross provides entry to the walk, an event T-shirt and refreshments from Coca-Cola, Foremost and Subway.

The Red Cross Walkathon is the largest walking event in Micronesia with more than 2,500 participants. Prizes will be given out to schools with the most number of walkers and those that raise the most funds. For more information about the 31st Annual Walkathon or how to volunteer, call the NMI Chapter at 234-3459. (ARC)
