American Red Cross-NMI Chapter volunteers provided emergency assistance to the residents of a barracks fire in San Antonio.

“The entire housing complex was destroyed leaving families with only the cloths on their backs” said Joseph Jetnil, Disaster Action Team leader.

The Red Cross team worked into the night providing financial assistance for emergency housing, clothing, shoes, and personal care items. Chinese translation support was provided by Rose Chen and other volunteers.

“We helped in a small way 27 families begin their difficult recovery after losing everything” said J.D. Tenorio, Red Cross Disaster Program manager. “We are grateful to have the support of our volunteers and donors that make our work possible” said Tenorio
