Record 19,272 registered voters
176 beat Friday’s deadline to register to vote this Nov. 8 general elections
As of yesterday, there was an overall total of 19,272 voters in the CNMI, assuring this Nov. 8 general elections will have the highest number of registered voters in the Commonwealth’s history.
Commonwealth Election Commission acting executive director Robin N. Sablan disclosed yesterday that 176 registered to vote Friday, which was the deadline to register.
This brings to a total of 19,272 registered voters for this year’s election, surpassing the 18,914 that was recorded during the 2018 elections.
Sablan said during the 2020 general elections, there were 18,537 registered voters.
CEC’s record shows that on Saipan, Precinct 1 still has the biggest number of registered voters with 5,153.
Precinct 1 covers San Antonio, San Vicente, Dandan, parts of Finasisu, Koblerville, as Lito, parts of As Perdido, Chalan Piao, Afetnas, and As Gonno.
Precinct 3 has 4,087 registered voters, Precinct 5 has 2,975, Precinct 4 has 1,752, and Precinct 2 has 1,590.
The Northern Islands has 184 registered voters. Precinct 7 or Rota has 1,851 registered voters, while Precinct 6 or Tinian has 1,680.
Meanwhile, CEC has started accepting requests for absentee ballots since last Aug. 25. The deadline for application for absentee voting by electronic/mail is Oct. 14.
