The Rollers Basketball Club will hold its 2nd Annual IT&E Christmas Youth Friendly Basketball Tournament from Dec. 28 to 30 at the Garapan Basketball Court.
The event is open to all U10, U12, and U15 boys players with female players up to 18 years of age also eligible to enter.
The entrance fee is $10 per player, as organizers need to shoulder the cost for referees, however RBC members will be volunteering as table officials.
The deadline to register is Tuesday.
Roster limits are set at 12 players per team and organizers strongly suggest a minimum of 10 players per squad.
This is a full-court tournament formatted with either eight-minute quarters or 16-minute halves.
Games will start nightly at 5pm.
Trophies provided by IT&E will go to the top two placers in each division.
The RBC is also working in coming up with some other small prizes for participants.
Any local businesses that wish to donate such gifts that the group can use as prizes would be a greatly appreciated. Based on past experience players seem to enjoy simple prizes such as food and water park and movie coupons.
In related news, the RBC recently held its Christmas Party at the Pacific Islands Club where they went swimming and shared a feast together.
While most RBC members are already a close-knit group of friends, the party was great way to get the new members and coaches to become better acquainted with one another.
The group also unveiled its new T-shirt printed with the new RBC logo.
A shield that symbolically protects the club backs the new emblem, while the basketball centered on the logo needs no explanation.
A Chamorro Taga stone, a Carolinian mwar mwar and the Philippine flag are also present to exemplify diversity within the club.
In addition, three stars in the logo represent all of the graduated players that pioneered the club such as Tyron Omar, Vince Teregeyo, Robert Naraja, Kevin Cequena, Derek Aughenbaugh, Pete Iguel, Dan Barcinas, Zack Tudela, and Connel Pierce to name a few.
RBC organizers are currently preparing membership renewals for 2012.
