Top team Queens of Diamonds rained on the parade of second seeded Hot Shots, 24-4, in a run-ruled game last Sunday in the continuation of the women’s division of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.

The Queens reigned in the first inning, with each batter taking turns in scoring and when the dust settled, 12 runs were on the board. It seemed like the game was already over as the Hot Shots only scored one run during their turn at bat.

The Queens settled down in the second inning, scoring just two runs but the damage was already done as their lead stretched to 14-1. The Hot Shots continued their snooze fest as they were only able to score three more runs in the last two innings which caused the game to end early, as the Queens had no mercy and scored 10 more runs in the last inning for the final score of 24-4.

One of the Queens’ leading batters, Kiana Aldan, hit the only home run of the game. She also hit a triple and had four runs batted in. Teammate Erin Mendiola hit two triples herself, while Rachel Salalila had four RBIs in three at bats and had three runs herself.

With the win, the Queens widened their lead over everyone with their 8-1 win-loss card. The Hot Shots dropped to 4-3.

670 Babes 13,
Lady Eagles 9

The 670 Babes were just a few steps ahead of the Lady Eagles as they defeated them, 13-9 in the first game of the day.

Both teams were evenly matched in the first inning as no one was able to score a run, but the momentum picked up in the second inning as the Babes put up four on the board.

The Babes continued their momentum in the next couple of innings as they scored seven more, with five runs made by the Eagles to make it 11-5. The Eagles tried to bounce back and catch up but the Babes were already too far ahead as the Babes scored two more in the last inning, with the Eagles only scoring four more runs to come up short by four runs.

With this win, the Babes improved to 3-5, while the Eagles dipped a bit at 5-4.

The results of the men’s division games will come out in the next editions of Saipan Tribune.
