Queens of Diamond and Hot Shots will vie for the 2022 Budweiser Belau Softball Association League women’s division tiara after beating their semifinal foes last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.

The Queens of Diamond royally defeated the Kosebakl Ladies, 13-3, while the Hot Shots fired a broadside at the Lady Eagles, 12-6.

In a run-ruled mercy game, the Queens commanded the field as the Kosebakl Ladies waved the white flag of surrender in the fifth inning.

The Queens’ Kiana Aldan started off their reign of terror against the Ladies at the top of the first inning, with a top of the lineup solo home run. She was followed by three more runs by her teammates Kiana Camacho, Jul Ngeskebei, and Bert Camacho, for a lead of 4-1 over the Ladies.

The Kosebakl Ladies’ two other runs were made by Ashley Fritz and Sonia Isaac in the next inning, but their lineup was silenced for the next three by Queens pitcher Bert Camacho.

The Queens then took turns scoring runs for the rest of the game—three runs in the second inning, one run in the third, four runs in the next, then one in the last inning.

In the last game of the day, the Hot Shots meteor showered the bulk of their runs against the Lady Eagles in the first inning. From the top of the Hot Shots’ lineup, down to the eighth batter, a series of hits and a couple of errors from the defense allowed them to score consecutively.

The Hot Shots then cooled down for the rest of the game—scoring two in the second and last inning, but their lead was too high up for the Eagles to reach.

The Eagles only put up three runs in the fourth inning after being silenced in the first three, and could only hit three more for the rest of the game.

The Queens of Diamond and the Hot Shots will play the first game of the best-of-3 championship series at 9am this Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Dandan Softball Field. The championship series will continue on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 10am.
