Queens of Diamond remains undefeated

Queens of Diamond remained royalty on the field in Week 2 of the Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association after rumbling past Lady Eagles, 21-8, last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.
Queens of Diamond’s offense was on fire early on with a run scored in by Kiana Aldan, followed by a run scored in by “Baby K” Camacho on an error by Lady Eagles. Erin Mendiola scored the third run of the first inning and the Queens were finally shut down with an early lead of 3-0.
The Lady Eagles could not retaliate in the first inning but scored four runs in the second, contributed by Jay Arriola, Julie Camacho, Jay Taitano, and Emy Oiterong.
The Queens then replied and lengthened their lead in the second inning after scoring five runs with the Eagles’ pitcher going through eight of their batters, for a wide lead of 8-4.
The Eagles in the third and fourth inning were unable to put up a run against Queen’s pitcher Bert Camacho, with Camacho flying through four batters in the third inning and only three batters of the Eagles’ line up in the fourth inning, with a total of three strikeouts.
The Eagles finally put up a lone run in the fifth inning, but still trailed the Queens, 12-5, after the Queens put up four more runs in the third inning.
Eagles pitcher Angela Santos finally silenced the Queens in the fourth and fifth inning after shutting down four batters in the fourth and allowing only one hit and shutting down five batters in the fifth.
Queens’ offense awakened once more in the sixth inning to put up three more runs, for a lead of 15-5, while the Eagles were able to put up two runs for a score of 15-7.
However, the Queens rallied in the seventh and last inning to add six more runs to secure the win, 21-8, with the Eagles putting up one run in their final hoorah in the seventh.
Kiana Aldan, “Baby K” Camacho, Erin Mendiola, Thelma Mizer, Bert Camacho, Elizabeth Lebria, Vicky Ann Pangelinan, Alannah Sablan, Amy Cabrera, Bong Babauta, Koko Laniyo, and Sylvia Sim played for the Queens’ winning lineup.
The Lady Eagles are 0-2 in the standings after losing to the Hotshots in the first week. The standings for the other women’s softball teams are Kosebakl at 1-0, Hotshots at 1-0, Tokahao Ladies at 1-0, and 670 Babes at 1-0.
