Quake near Farallon de Pajaros, south of Guam

At 12:50pm yesterday, March 18, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake occurred 199 kilometers north northwest of Farallon de Pajaros in the Northern Islands.

According to CNMI Homeland Security & Emergency Management Emergency Operations Center’s State Warning Point, there are no reports of injuries or damage to infrastructure.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued no tsunami warnings or advisories.

Last Saturday a 4.9-magnitude earthquake occurred south of Guam, the second earthquake off the coast of Guam this month.

The earthquake occurred at 7:17am on March 16, some 150 miles west southwest of Merizo Village in Guam. There were no tsunami warnings or advisories issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. No injuries were reported.

On March 10, a 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Guam but no tsunami warnings were issued for Guam and neighboring Northern Marianas Islands.
