Public warned of strong winds, rough seas

The public is being warned that a wind advisory remains in effect until 6pm today, Monday. A small craft advisory also remains in effect until 6am today.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, east winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts of over 40 mph, with possible in heavy showers, are expected on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota until 6pm today.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds will be stronger in higher terrain. The public is advised to use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Conditions will be hazardous to small craft. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in these hazardous conditions. (Saipan Tribune)
