Public radio off the air due to repairs on Mt. Tapochau

Public Radio for the Northern Marianas—Saipan’s educational, non-commercial NPR affiliate on 89.1FM—is temporarily off the air pending repairs to its transmission facilities on Mt. Tapochau. New parts are to be installed by Friday, Nov. 13.

“Public Radio’s antennas survived Soudelor, but not Champi,” said Darryl Taggerty, president of Marianas Educational Media Services, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that operates the Saipan public radio translator. “We removed damaged components from the tower last Friday for repair.”

MEMS delivers three noncommercial radio services to CNMI residents: Public Radio Guam, Catholic Radio network EWTN, and Melodies of Prayer, produced by Guam resident missionary Dr. Edwin Supit. (PR)
