Public meeting on fate of Outer Cove Marina

Share

The Department of Lands and Natural Resources is requesting all Outer Cove Marina tenants, Smiling Cove Marina tenants, recreational boaters and interested members of the public to attend a public meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, at the DLNR DFW Smiling Cove Marina parking lot at 6:30pm.

DLNR will discuss the Performance Audit Report by the Office of the Public Auditor, as well as the inspection report from the Department of Public Works, Building Safety Code Division.

Following the collapse of an Outer Cove Marina gangway in July, DLNR requested for assistance from DPW for an inspection and structural integrity assessment, which was received on Oct. 21, 2015. The DPW report, along with an audit finding of the Office of the Public Auditor, recommended a closure of the Outer Cove Marina.

During the public meeting DLNR will expand on its initial discussions with grantors under the Sport Fish Restoration Program of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to accommodate the loading and unloading of passengers within the Smiling Cove Marina.

If you have any question or need additional information, contact the Department of Lands and Natural Resources at (670) 322-9834. (DLNR)
