The Zoning Office will be holding a public hearing for the application for a dog shelter that will be built in Chalan Kanoa.

The hearing is set for Dec. 14, 5pm at the Zoning Board conference room at the second floor of Joeten Dandan building.

Acting Zoning administrator Therese T. Ogumoro Monday said that the proposed dog transfer shelter will be on Lot 012-H17 between Casilda and Konsolacion Streets behind the post office in Chalan Kanoa.

She said the transfer shelter aims to facilitate the Saipan Mayor’s Office Dog Control Program by having a space where program staff can keep stray dogs captured at the southern end of the island.

While they have advertised the public hearing, Ogumoro said they have yet to receive written comments about it. She said they expect to receive written comments within the week. Deadline for comments is at 4:30pm on Dec. 13.

To send comments, email therese.ogumoro@zoning.gov.mp or hand deliver it to the Zoning Office at the second floor of the Joeten Dandan building.
