This is to remind all students who enrolled for the Public School System’s Summer Online Courses that instructions have been sent to their individuals emails.

PSS is requesting students to follow the instructions on their email to confirm and register. If they have any questions or did not receive their email confirmation, they are instructed to email jeaniffer.cubangbang@cnmipss.org with specific information as to their name, school, and courses.

Students can also make an appointment at the Summer Distance Education Resource Testing Center near the MHS campus and speak to counselor or eTeacher.

On Jan. 31, 2012 PSS launched their distance education program with eight high school online courses for students to meet graduation requirements. A total of 118 Spring 2012 students from Rota, Tinian, and Saipan participated in a semester-long study online through the online LMS (Learning Management System) called CourseSites by Blackboard. Cubangbang, the IT Program Manager in charge of the Distance Ed Program recruited and trained more eTeachers these months and now there are more courses being offered online.

This summer, beginning June 18, approximately 600 students from Rota, Tinian, and Saipan enrolled from a choice 20 online courses to receive credits toward graduation requirements. Elementary students will also experience their first online enrichment course. Junior high students will be able to choose from four online credit or elective courses.

The Fall 2012 1st Edition catalog was just released last week. Fall classes start Sept. 4, 2012. Students can choose from over 30 online courses including rigorous Advanced Placement (AP) courses for which students can receive college credit in addition to high school credit upon successful examination through a CollegeBoard exam. Students can register at www.goo.gl/VJJwc; deadline is Aug. 17.

This is a great opportunity for students who’d like to graduate early or on-time, want to work part-time, or do early admission into NMC.

Cubangbang is also looking for community partners and business establishments who’d like to offer discounts or internet/wi-fi services to students taking online courses. If you are a parent or student who would like more information about PSS online courses or an organization or business who’d like to send a discount or service proposal, please email Jeaniffer Cubangbang, IT program manager at PSS Office for Instructional Services at jeaniffer.cubangbang@cnmipss.org.
