The prosecution called yesterday three more witnesses in the ongoing jury trial at Rota Courthouse of former Rota police officer Melvin Maratita Manglona.

After the alleged 14-year-old victim completed her testimony, the prosecution called to the stand three more witnesses—a teacher and two Rota police officers, Saipan Tribune learned.

Chief prosecutor Michelle Harris and assistant attorney general Teri Tenorio will call more witnesses at the resumption of the trial today, Wednesday, at 8:30am.

Defense counsel Brien Sers Nicholas is counsel for the 49-year-old Manglona.

Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho is presiding over the trial.

The government charged Manglona with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in first degree and one count of disturbing the peace. He allegedly sexually abused the girl last July and Aug. 11, 2016. The trial began on Monday.
