Probable cause found to charge teacher, habitual offender
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho has found probable cause to warrant the filing of charges against a teacher and a habitual offender in connection with separate burglary and theft incidents.
At a preliminary hearing on Tuesday afternoon, Camacho found probable cause to charge George Lieto Jr. with burglary and theft.
Camacho also found probable cause to charge Ramon Cabrera Blas with burglary, theft, criminal trespass, and disturbing the peace.
The judge ordered Lieto and Blas to respond to the charges.
Arraignment will be on Monday at 9am.
Assistant attorneys general Emily Cohen and Shannon Foley appeared for the government in both cases. Court-appointed counsel Matthew Holley appeared for Lieto. Assistant public defender Matthew Meyer served as counsel for Blas.
Lieto, a 30-year-old teacher, was arrested recently after he and Terwik Ludwig allegedly broke into a store’s generator room and stole copper wires worth over $1,600 in Kagman last Oct. 26.
Blas, a 56-year-old notorious habitual offender, was arrested last Nov. 24 for allegedly burglarizing an apartment complex in San Vicente and stealing a couple’s jewelry, money, and other items worth $22,875 on Aug. 21 and Nov. 9.
