Presentation by traditional navigator this Saturday

The public is invited to a special presentation by traditional navigator Sesario Sewalur this Saturday.

Sesario Sewralur is the son of master navigator Mau Piailug who teaches the traditional and ancestral way of navigating at the Palau Community College. He along with some of his crewmembers will share stories about their voyage and experience in traditional navigation. The public will also have the opportunity to see the double-hulled voyaging canoe designed by Mau called the Alingano Maisu up close.

Sesario and crew sailed from Palau on the Alingano Maisu. They will be leaving next week for the 2016 Pacific Arts Festival in Guam.

The presentation will be held at the Carolinian Utt in Garapan this Saturday, May 14, from 10am to 12pm. It is free and open to the public.

The presentation is sponsored by Bank of Guam, Bridge Capital, McDonald’s, T Galleria, Chamolinian Cultural Village, Pacific Trading Co., Ocean Soul Society, and the Northern Marianas Humanities Council.
