Power outages today, tomorrow, Apr. 11
There will be a scheduled power interruption on Saipan today, April 7, 2017, from 5amto 6:30am, tomorrow, April 8, 2017, from 5:30am to 10:30am, and on April 11, 2017, from 3pm to 5pm.
The purpose of the power interruption today is to de-energize the primary lines to allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp. line crew to safely perform system upgrade on the Kiya 3 and Kiya 4 distribution circuit. This requires a power outage on sectionalized area of the Kiya 4 distribution circuit.
Chalan Kiya and its traffic light will be affected. The Duenas water well would also be affected, as well as the W-5 wastewater lift stations.
The purpose of tomorrow’s power interruption is to de-energize the primary lines to allow CUC line crew to safely replace five wooden power poles with concrete poles along Alageta Road in Kagman II. This is part of an ongoing Hazard Mitigation Program to strengthen and harden the integrity of the power distribution system throughout Saipan.
Kagman II would be affected. The water wells for the entire Kagman village would also be affected. These includes the KG-7, KG-8, KG-9, KG-14, and KG-15 water wells.
The April 11 power interruption is to allow CUC line crew to replace a rotted primary power pole in China Town along Komiti Ave. Areas to be affected are China Town (Commonwealth Dr., Uruwow Ln., Congress Ln., World War Two Ln., Legislature Ln., Linao Ln., Nimitz Ln., Speaker Ln., Komiti Av., Judge Wy., Matsue St., Husga Av., Director Ct., Chamber Ct., Senate Av., Sugar King Rd., Village Ln., Covenant Ln., Politic Ln., Freedom Drive., Convention Pl., Justice Pl., and Saina Pl.)
These outages are all part of an ongoing maintenance program to strengthen and harden the integrity of the power distribution system throughout the island. Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas.
