There will be a one-hour power outage on Saturday, March 31, 2012, from 5:30am through 6:30am, affecting Garapan Beach Road from Tony Roma’s Restaurant through Kristo Rai Church, and Kadena Pl. to Mapola St., according to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.

The purpose of the interruption is to de-energize the primary lines to provide safety for line crew as they connect the recently installed air break switch in front of the Garapan Elementary School. The ABS will provide linemen the ability to isolate problematic areas on feeder 1 and 2. The ABS will also provide the ability to parallel the two feeder circuits thus minimizing the number of customers inconvenienced during future repairs or maintenance on the electrical grid.

Because of the scale of the work that will be performed, travelers are asked to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas. (CUC)
