Polls don’t lie

It’s just like the Happy video I did said—no offense to voters, don’t waste your time with Inos. I am writing this as an individual voter because I feel duty-bound as a citizen to remain true to the game of politics, true to the CNMI, and true to the people first and foremost. I can say for true the majority of voters will be happy after the election process as it is already clear that everyone wants change and a new governor. With three candidates challenging the incumbent, the administration does not stand a chance of winning.

From the very start I was supporting and telling readers it’s Babauta or Tofila and I still believe the revival of the Democratic Party is the more complete solution to fixing our sick democracy. However, the science of politics and the wisdom I have gained over the years is dictating an Inos/Torres loss and even a Babauta win. But I still have hope for the uphill battle by my team to be in the runoff but I know for true that Inos-Torres won’t win in the end. Here are the facts based on the MV poll as of Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, with 12,619 votes: Ed and Dan, 1.6 percent; Heinz and Ray, 15.3 percent; Inos and Torres, 19.1 percent; and Babauta and Torres, 52.3 percent, with 11.8 percent not supporting any candidate. In Biblical terminology we call this “the handwriting on the wall” as polls don’t lie even if they are off by a few percentage points. There is also the fact that an overwhelming majority of the supporters of the Babauta and Torres, Heinz and Ray, and Ed and Dan teams will unite against Inos/Torres if there is a runoff (I bet the inexperienced Ralph wishes he would have conducted a primary for his running mate now). So don’t waste your time with Inos as the popularity contest of double signs and more advertisement by IT is a lost battle!

I gave it my very best shot to try and help the Democrats and it truly hurts to make this revelation but I have pledged to always do what I feel is best when it comes to helping and informing the people as to what is really going on. I also want my team to know and be prepared for the challenge we face as the reality of this election season sets in for Game Day tomorrow.

Polls don’t lie; they may be off by some percentage points but polls do not lie and Babauta is literally running away in the polls with over 12,000 votes cast and over 52 percent of the votes. After the forum where only Babauta showed up, I’m sure that social scientists and political scientists would dictate an even bigger win for Babauta with the other three dividing up the remaining 40-plus percent and fighting for a distant second. But what makes me happy is with the poll results and the 3-to-1 odds it’s really over for Inos/Torres. The fat lady is just waiting for Election Day to sing!

On a final note, I want to commend the Democratic Party for trying to right the ship but readers need to know that polls are tools used by the real political scientists to determine what will happen in the political arena before it happens or to determine what should happen! Many of the predictions I made in the past that came true were meant to prove to readers the science of politics does work and is seldom wrong. I’m sure this prediction and the results of this election will help to show voters why it’s so important and why I keep pushing for an official voter poll (a political tool for the people) so we can solve some of our most challenging social and economic issues so we can move on and forward.

Now the science is dictating a Babauta win and I’m just the messenger of truth that is even hurting me personally in the anticipation of a loss by the Democratic candidates. I still have hope for the Democrats but I am also a realist and I don’t want my team to feel bad but this is not a baseball game that can change with one home run. But I am glad that I did recognize Mr. Babauta as possibly being the best qualified and the best alternative to a Democrat for governor.

I know some of my fellow Democrats may not like this letter and what I have said but please don’t be mad at me. Please try to understand that I didn’t write this to be discouraging but to tell the truth and to soften the blow as i work for the people first and the Democrats second. I must remain true and I will speak up for what I feel is best for the CNMI and tell it like it is.
