Poetic Penance on Presidential Politics

I’m Not Giving Up Trump for Lent
Satiric sonnets about Pres. 45 are time well spent
in fact they provide me with a sort of catharsis
so I’m not giving up writing about Trump for Lent
and will monitor his malignant metamorphosis
Its like the child who loves candy and cookies
but says he’ll give up licorice and fruit cake
since he never eats either one of these
and wants to continue his sweet tooth intake
We have all done it from time to time
giving up something we don’t care about
as a poet I enjoy writing words that rhyme
Donald Trump is a perfect target no doubt
I’ll continue dealing in derision during Lent
about the tragic times of our 45th US president.

Days of Wrath Mueller on the Warpath
Latin language leads the way deconstructing the Dies Irae
45 says he’ll meet Mueller, promises an oath he’ll be taking
“Quantus tremor est futurus”- How great will be the quaking
How many careers thrown under the bus?
“Quando judex est venturus”- When the judge will come
Will Trump not remember and play dumb?
“Cuncta stricte discussurus”- Investigating everything strictly
Mueller wants questions answered explicitly and specifically
“Judex ergo cum sedebit” – When therefore the Judge will sit
guarantee he won’t put up with 45’s bulls…
“Quidquid latet apparebit” – Whatever lies hidden will appear
and 45 won’t be grinning from ear to ear
“Nil inultum remanebit”- nothing will remain unpunished
and Mueller is nowhere near finished.
