Plumeria Swim signup deadline today
Swimmers and snorkelers are reminded to register by today for the Marianas Visitors Authority’s 1st Annual Plumeria Swim that will be held at Pau Pau Beach this Saturday.
“Logistically, we want to ensure everything is in order for all participants on Saturday morning, so we will be registering only through Friday,” explained MVA Community Projects Manager Martin Duenas.
So far, 44 international swimmers have registered to join the event, which has four race categories and welcomes swimmers with or without flippers. The cost is $25 for CNMI residents with valid I.D. for the 1.5km flipper race, or $20 for the 1.5K swim, 500m swim, or for each member of the 2K relay team (up to four members per team). Mandatory orientation will be held from 4:30 to 5:30pm today at the Paseo de Marianas. Participants must be in good health with snorkeling or diving experience.
The race will begin at 6am, followed by an island-style breakfast and awards ceremony at the beach.
The event is jointly organized by the MVA and the Community Sports Center Foundation of Japan and is supported by Let’s Go! Tour, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, World Resort Saipan, McDonald’s Saipan, Detry Pumping Service, Saipan Advertising, Pacific Development Inc., Department of Public Safety, Boating Safety/EMS, Emma Perez, Peter Perez, Mobby’s, Tusa Reef Tourer by Tabata, Gull, Super VAAM, Bism, SAS, Marine Diving, and Northern Marianas Diving Operators Association.
