RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, California—Pieology Pizzeria, where pizza lovers go to create custom pizzas in endless flavor combinations at one affordable price, announced yesterday that it has signed a master franchise agreement with Progressive Pies, LLC to open Pieology’s first locations in Guam and Saipan. Founded in 2011 by Carl Chang, brother and former coach of tennis professional and Pieology franchisee Michael Chang, Pieology currently operates 70 locations throughout 11 states, and is the first fast casual custom pizza concept to announce plans to build in these markets. This new agreement outlines commitments to open at least three locations in both territories, with the first to open in Guam at the beginning of 2016.

“There’s a significant demand across the globe for what Pieology has to offer, and that’s delicious, customizable food served at a great value,” said Carl Chang, founder and CEO of Pieology. “We’re thrilled to team up with such a talented franchise group as we enter uncharted territories and share Pieology’s signature pizza experience with communities in these exciting new markets.”

Progressive Pies LLC is subsidiary for Apple Pacific LLC, who is the franchisee for Applebee’s Grill & Bar and IHOP Restaurant in Guam and the CNMI. Progressive Pies, LLC has secured exclusive development rights in Guam and Saipan.

“We know these markets well and we’re eager to bring Pieology’s mouthwatering pizzas and unparalleled guest experience to Guam and Saipan,” Richard Hart, principal franchisee and president of Progressive Pies, LLC. “When searching for a fast casual pizza concept to bring to these regions, Pieology had everything we were looking for, from an exceptional leadership team led by Carl Chang, to the best tasting product hands down.”

The Pieology experience starts with fresh house-made dough that is pressed into 11.5-inch thin pizza crusts, which is typically larger than others in the custom pizza space.  Guests select from eight signature sauces, moving down the line to choose from more than 40 fresh and flavorful meats, cheeses, vegetables, herbs and spices. The customized pizzas are then stone oven fired to perfection in less than three minutes. To finish, guests have the option to add after-bake “Flavor Blast” sauces, including fiery buffalo, pesto and BBQ. Pieology also offers gluten-free crust, Daiya vegan mozzarella cheese (select locations), whole wheat crust and a selection of seven signature pizzas, which can be customized upon request.

“Pieology is at the forefront of fast casual pizza dining and continues to impress with their innovative approach to this iconic American classic. Partnering with Pieology exemplifies our continued commitment to bring unique dining experiences to Guam and the CNMI,” said Hart.
