The Pacific Islands Club has remained mum on the drowning of two Korean women at its swimming pool early Thursday morning.

PIC Saipan executive assistant Vicky Benavente on Friday said the Department of Public Safety is currently investigating the incident.

“Until the DPS investigation has been completed, we cannot release any information to the general public or media,” said Benavente in an email.

DPS said the victims, ages 26 and 27, were taken to the Commonwealth Health Center where a doctor pronounced one dead at 2:43am and the other at 3:18am.

DPS said a security guard discovered one victim floating facedown on the pool surface, while the other was found at the bottom of the pool.

The guard jumped into the pool to rescue the victims. Other hotel employees helped.

DPS has yet to confirm whether alcohol was a factor in the incident.
