PIC Hafa Adai 5K gets support from PTC, again
Pacific Trading Company is once again sponsoring the PIC Hafa Adai 5K which will take place on April 9.
The 5K fundraiser will help benefit the Northern Marianas Chapter of the American Red Cross.
“PTC is proud to partner up once again with another PIC signature event,” said PTC general manager Charles Cepeda.
For this year’s event, PTC and Pepsi will be sponsoring the islands biggest Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament after the 5K. In this winner-take-all challenge, Pepsi has ponied up $500 cash for the overall winner.
“The Pepsi and PIC partnership continues to strengthen with Pepsi’s backing of the Rock Paper Scissors Tournament. May the strongest hand win” said Cepeda.
“The Pepsi Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge is open to each and every paid participant of the 5K,” Sports, Entertainment and Activities director Glenn Policare said. “Once participants have finished the 5K, our team of volunteers will be organizing individuals into groups. Players will pair up, back to back, and battle it out for supremacy. Winners move on round by round.”
“The odds of winning at Rock, Paper, Scissors six, seven or even eight times in a row is astronomical,” said event director Keoni Ichihara. “I can’t wait to see who will come out on top.”
The 5KM will start and finish at PIC Saipan and will feature five different coloring stations along the Beach Road route. Participants are encouraged to wear white attire so that the full effect of the coloring stations can be seen post-race. Volunteers will be celebrating each runner’s arrival by greeting them with “holi powder.” This is a biodegradable mixture of corn starch and food coloring.
The five color stations (blue, pink, green, yellow and red) along with two water stations will line Beach Road starting at PIC and stretch all the way to Triple J Five Star Wholesale.
Entry fees are only $10. The first 500 paid entries will receive a limited edition event t-shirt. Entry forms for the Hafa Adai 5K can be found at the PIC lobby, Triple J Motors on Beach Road, Gold’s Gym, The American Red Cross and Boarderline in Garapan.
