Pacific Islands Club’s 2011 Dodge Ball Tournament is set to take place on Nov. 4 and 5 at the PIC tennis courts.
The competition will consist of 16 teams with 10-player roster limits with a minimum of two female players per group. All players must be at least 18 years old.
Entrance fee to participate is set at $150 per team and the proceeds raised from the event will be donated to help the fight against cancer.
Teams will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
On Nov. 4 a 6pm team captain’s meeting will be held courtside at PIC. All paperwork, waivers and payments are due before the opening pool play matches start at 6:30pm.
The teams will be broken into four groups; Pools A and B will take the court for the first round of pool play games followed by groups C and D at 8pm.
Then the tournament picks back up on Saturday when the teams are expected to check in at 1pm before the commencement of a 1:30pm single-elimination “one and done” bracket tournament.
The awards ceremony will take place immediately following the championship match. Along with the top place finishers the best uniforms and team banner will also be awarded; team banners are required.
The tournament will abide by National Amateur Dodgeball Association rules and each three-game series is set at three minutes per match.
Last year Huevos Grandes, made up of team captain Amanda Allen, Thomas Silberberger, Brian O’Laughlin, Jackie Van Dam, Brian Morris, Daniel Stafford, Matt Grosenbach, Tiberius Mocanu, Steven Gardinerm, and Adam Hardwicke, swept the field and defeated the M-Squad two games to one in the championship match.
Hueveos Grandes was ranked in second place coming into a round-robin elimination round, while the M-Squad drew a fifth place seat and eventually went through top contender Ideal Team in the semifinals.
