The Philippine Consulate is again reminding all registered Filipino absentee voters that field voting on Saipan will begin on Monday, April 25. The four-day field voting will be held from 9am to 5pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe.

Filipinos who are residing and working on Tinian and Rota had already cast their votes after receiving them by mail. Overseas absentee voting began in other countries on April 9. Registered voters on Saipan need to bring valid IDs, like passport or driver’s license, to claim their ballots.

“The Commission on Elections announces the adoption of Automated Election System Modified Postal System for purposes of casting overseas absentee votes from April 9 up to 7pm on May 9pm (Philippine time),” said a notice given by the Philippine Consulate.

“Registered voters on Saipan are advised to personally claim their official ballots and then submit accomplished ballots at the designated venue. If they so desire, they may also mail the ballots to the Philippine Consulate General in Agana Guam.”

Special Ballot Reception and Custody Group chair and Consul Mark Francis C. Hamoy and SBRCG member Cristina C. Yap will oversee the field voting. They will arrive on Saipan on Sunday, April 24.

Philippine Consulate General Marciano R. De Borja is also requesting to extend port courtesies to Hamoy and Yap once they arrive here on Saipan. He is also asking honorary consul Eli Arago to assist them going to the multipurpose hall.

The Philippine Consulate in Guam had already sent the ballots to Saipan, which is expected to arrive today. It will be delivered to Arago’s office in the second floor of the JP Center in Garapan.
