The Philippine Consulate General in Agana continues to receive donations for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). Among the latest is a donation from the Guam Chapter-Association of Government Accountants.

Four of AGA’s officers, led by incoming president Rachel Field, called on Consul General Bayani V. Mangibin March 31, 2014, to turn over AGA’s check donation amounting to $ 2,698.00. The amount is intended for the Philippine Red Cross for the benefit of Typhoon Haiyan victims in the Philippines.

Dr. Merlynn Abello-Alfonso, Philippine Honorary Consul to the Federated States of Micronesia, also paid a call on the Philippine Consulate on April 2, 2014, to hand over the cash donation of the United Filipino Community in Pohnpei and the Pohnpei Photography Club in the amount of $1,000. The donation is addressed to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for the communities affected by Typhoon Haiyan. This amount was raised from the unified fundraising event of the two organizations in Pohnpei on Feb. 22, 2014. The United Filipino Community in Pohnpei is headed by Russel Figueras, president.

Last March 12, Abello-Alfonso again visited the consulate and turned over to Consul Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian the amount of $297.59 from Reed Oliver as donation to DSWD for Typhoon Haiyan victims. The amount was collected by Reed and his family in their store in Pohnpei for the typhoon victims. Reed is a Pohnpeian/FSM citizen and currently the Honorary Consul of Israel to the Federated States of Micronesia. (PCG)
