Defending League champion Peleliu, defeated Momma Charo, 22-12, last Sunday during the 2022 Budweiser BASA League last Sunday at the Dandan Softball Field.

Momma Charo displayed grit and determination against Peleliu as although Peleliu scored multiple runs in, they forced the game play through all seven innings- although it just wasn’t enough to beat them.

Early on, Momma Charo, recovering from their loss a week prior, shook off the dust and scored two runs, followed by a home run in the first inning by J.J. Laniyo, for an early lead of 3-0.

However, Peleliu replied and showcased why they were last year’s champions as the first three batters in their lineup, Joe Lizama, Mark Flores, and John Terlaje, all scored against Momma Charo pitcher Kalle Igisomar to tie up the game, 3-3.

It was a quiet second inning when Momma Charo only managed a base hit each from two of its batters and Peleliu scored only one run in for a score of 4-3.

Momma Charo’s bats came alive again in the third inning as they worked their way to score six runs, from which one run was made by a home run by Joe Kapileo who had three RBIs in the game. Peleliu managed to scrape up three runs.

From there, Peleliu took the game on with renewed vigor after Momma Charo came up empty from the fourth through sixth inning, scoring in 10 runs over three innings, with them now on top of the scoreboard at 17-9.

In the innings, Peleliu’s John Terlaje whipped up a triple and had one RBI. The other RBIs were from Jun Lizama at four, and Bill Aguon and Joe Lizama at three a-piece.

All hope was lost for Momma Charo as in the seventh inning they only managed to score three runs while Peleliu added five more runs to secure the win at 22-12.

Pitching ace of Peleliu, Ray Villagomez, scorched away seven strikeouts and walked only two batters in the game.

Peleliu are now 4-3 in the standings, while Momma Charo are at 3-5.

Tokahoa fought valiantly against Sufa as they took turns scoring runs in most of the innings, but the effort wasn’t enough even after three home runs—one made by Jeff Cruz and two made by Jojo Attao.

By the fourth inning, Tokahao had five runs while Sufa had seven and it was still anybody’s game. Majority of the runs came flowing in from both sides when Sufa scored two more runs in the fifth and Tokahao caught up in the sixth and scored four runs to tie the game up, 9-9.

Decisively in the last inning, Sufa scored five runs while Tokahao managed to only come up with two runs with a nail-biter score of 14-13.
