PDM Promoters, Inc. and volunteers were at it again last Saturday during its cleanup of Paseo de Marianas and its surrounding environs.
Similar to its previous monthly cleanups, the April edition included a lot of children, with 15 members from Saipan Awaodori Team joining the event that netted 240 lbs of trash.
“We always include young children in our cleanups to encourage them to be responsible and become less likely to throw trash…themselves. Let them understand that they are doing something extraordinary by simply picking up trash and cleaning the surroundings,” said cleanup drive coordinator Sonia G. Siwa.
Aside from the 15 Saipan Awaodori Team members, nine Kinpachi Restaurant staff also volunteered during the cleanup that started at 9am and encompassed Paseo de Marianas, Coral Tree Avenue, AMP Road, and Beach Road and its connecting alleys.
As in previous monthly cleanups, Siwa thanked the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality for helping PDM Promoters by waiving the fee for trash disposal.
PDM Promoters’ monthly cleanups are held every Saturday and are supported by BECQ and the non-profit’s major sponsors, T-Galleria and TSL Foundation.
Siwa said T-Galleria and TSL Foundation’s support enables them to have the cleaning materials needed. Kinpachi Restaurant, meanwhile, provides the meal and snacks for the volunteers.
