The Saipan Awaodori Team and PDM Promoters cleaned up the Garapan tourist district last Saturday, collecting 1,140 lbs of trash this time.

Last month, PDM Promoters collected 820 lbs of garbage.

A total of 29 members of the Saipan Awaodori Team and 11 Kinpachi Restaurant staff cleaned up Coral Tree Avenue, the American Memorial Park road, Beach Road and within the PDM walkway, in preparation for that evening’s Christmas in the Marianas event.

PDM Promoter Inc. coordinator Sonia Siwa said that two Kagman High School students and one Northern Marianas College student joined them for this month cleanup.

For this year, PDM Promoters has collected over 11,000 lbs of trash, a record-setting feat by the organization and its members. From January to July about 6,000 lbs of trash were collected. From August to December over 5,000 lbs of trash were collected.

“This is our last scheduled cleanup for 2014. PDM Promoters Inc. accomplished the cleanup every month this year and we will continue to do it next year,” Siwa said.
