Paseo de Marianas Promoters, Inc. collected a total of 500 lbs of trash at the Garapan tourist district last Saturday during its fourth monthly cleanup of the year.

Three Saipan Awaodori members and nine Kinpachi Restaurant staff took part in the cleanup of the Paseo de Marianas and its environs.

PDM Promoters’ Sonia Siwa said they started in the morning and ended before lunch.

Siwa noted that there were other volunteers from different schools that also cleaned up the area.

“It is nice to see that some students besides our group are also picking up trash in the area on weekends,” Siwa said.

In related news, musicians and four dancers from Tokyo Tensuiren, four dancers from the Benkeiren group, and three musicians from the Aoishinren group from Koenji Tokyo in Japan will be here to perform with the Saipan Awaodori Team.

Four of the Tokyo Tensuiren musicians will first perform at the Garapan Street Market tonight from 7pm to 7:30pm and then move to the T-Galleria from 7:50pm to 8:20pm.

The Saipan Awaodori will also hold its program at the Paseo de Marianas in front of Kinpachi Restaurant on Friday. They will perform at Fiesta Resort and Spa first from 5:30pm to 6pm, then move on to the Paseo. There will be a program from 6:20pm to 9pm at the Paseo. Raffles will be held and entertainment will be available.
