Twenty Saipan Awaodori members, nine Kinpachi Restaurant staff, and two Kagman High School students took part in the cleanup of the Paseo de Marianas and its environs.

PDM Promoters’ Sonia Siwa said they started around 9am and ended at 11:30am. Areas of the cleanup included the Paseo de Marianas and areas within Beach Road, Winchell’s Road, Coral Tree Avenue, and American Memorial Park’s road.

“We collected 1,540 pounds of trash, beer bottles, cigarette butts, dried bushes, and mostly the firecrackers scattered not only in Paseo de Marianas but all over the place,” Siwa said. The firecracker litter came from the celebration of Lunar New Year last month.

PDM does its cleanup every month, collecting up to 1,000 lbs of trash.

For more information and to join the monthly cleanup, call the Kinpachi Restaurant at 233-7715 and ask for Siwa.
