PCF 5K fundraiser on Oct. 3
The Northern Marianas chapter of the Pacific Century Fellows will be holding the Back On Our Feet 5-kilometer fun run event on Oct. 3 at the Garapan Fishing Base just across Kristo Rai Church.
Registration for the event, which aims to raise funds to help families rebuild their homes that were damaged or destroyed by Typhoon Soudelor, starts at 5am. Registration fee is $15 per person, which includes an event T-shirt.
L.J. Castro, who has been helping PCF with its media and promotions, said anybody can join and they are encouraging families to join.
“The event was an idea that we shout out to each other. This is our own way of helping with the relief efforts. We can do more in the rebuilding process,” Castro told Saipan Tribune.
“Anyone can participate and it is a family event. For just a simple fee, you’ve done your part to help the community. Bring your family and your friends. Spread the word,” added Castro.
Participants can jog, run, and walk along the Beach Road Pathway, which is also accessible to kids strollers and wheelchairs for persons with disabilities. The course is from Garapan Fishing Base to Quartermaster and back.
Participants who are minors, under the age of 18, must have adult supervision. A raffle will also be held after the run.
