Larry Pascual bagged the rain-shortened FilTaga August Ace of the Month held last Aug. 17 at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talofofo.

Only nine golfers braved the Sunday morning tee-off after a thunderstorm almost cancelled the tournament.

Organizers stopped the tournament after 11 holes due to the heavy downpour with thunder and lightning.

All golfers then agreed to determine the handicap of each player up to No. 11. The total handicap is then divided by 18 holes to get the per hole handicap which is then multiplied to 11 holes.

Pascual, after 11 holes, tamed the Graham Marsh-designed 18-hole par-72 course with a gross score of 55.

The 16-handicapper had an 18-hole 0.89 handicap for a 9.78 and a 45.22 net and a slim 1.89 winning margin over closest pursuer Gil Faller.

Faller, an eight-handicapper, finished with a 52 gross and a 47.11 net score, while Juan Lizama ended up third with an 11-hole 47.67 tally.

Jess Yumul (47.78), Bae Hak Chun (50.94), William Retardo (51.17), Nestor Sirelo (55.22), Adony Matutino (57.67), and Freddie Cataluna (58.72) are the other competing golfers for August monthly tee-off.

FilTaga will also hold its September Ace on Sept. 21 at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort’s East Course with a 12 noon showtime and a 12:30 tee time.

Tournament director Leo Ganacias said the greens fee is $40 with a $15 pot money fee.

The October Ace, which will be simultaneously held with the Emon Lodge 179 tournament, is set at the Marianas Country Club on Oct. 25 with a tee time of 8am.

The general entry fee is pegged at $85 where FilTaga members will only pay $55 that includes the green fee and lunch.

The November Ace of the Month and Turkey shoot out will be held on Nov. 23 with a 12 noon showtime and 12:30pm tee off. (Jon Perez)
