The Northern Marianas College is inviting parents of graduating high school seniors from CNMI public high schools to its first Parent Summit event, which will be held throughout the next several days in Saipan, Rota, and Tinian.

The aim of the Parent Summit is to provide parents with practical information and resources they need to help their graduating senior prepare for and succeed in college. Topics of the summit include: “the value of a college education;” “paying for college;” “how to be a supportive parent;” and more.

According to Leo Pangelinan, dean of Student Services, attendance at the Parent Summits is a great way for parents to learn how to become meaningfully involved in their children’s pursuit of higher education.

“Participants will also gain strategies for how to provide encouragement, particularly about academic issues related to their college-going children,” Pangelinan said. “There will also be discussions about many resources that are available for college students.”

The summits will be held on the following days:

– Monday, April 21, 2014, at Pacific Islands Club, for parents of Saipan Southern High School seniors.

¬- Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Saipan World Resort, for parents of Marianas High School seniors.
