Pangelinan toyed with his defenders the entire game to finish with a season-high 41 points. He made all of DCCA’s 7 3-pointers. He scored 22 of DCCA’s 57 points in the second half, 13 of which came in the third as DCCA blew the game wide open.
DCCA led from the opening tip and ended the first quarter with a 7-point lead, 17-10. It was cruise control from thereon and with Pangelinan at the forefront of its offense, DCCA built a 38-24 halftime spread, its first of several double-digit leads.
Perry Inos scattered 23 points to support Pangelinan’s offensive onslaught, while Tim Wesley tallied 16 markers.
Tony Diaz paced CUC’s losing cause with his 20 points, while John Santos contributed 16 markers.
It was DCCA’s fourth win in six matches and it finished tied for third with Northern Marianas Sports Association, but the latter clinched the No. 3 spot based on the win-over-the-other rule.
CUC ended the elimination round at sixth place with a 2-4 slate, which is the same record of Department of Public Safety. DPS won the tiebreak and the fifth spot after beating CUC, 74-57, last Nov. 14.
