Pangelinan, Nanako continue to vie for lead

The seesaw fight for the lead between Billie Pangelinan and Celis Nanako continued during the fourth series of the Marianas Racing Association’s 2021 Point Series Race held every month at the Cowtown Raceway Park in Marpi.

After a tug-of-war for the lead in the Power Puff class for the last three series races, Pangelinan pulled the rug from under Nanako, again, in the fourth leg last April 25 after taking second place in the first heat to earn 22 points, and first in the second heat to gain 25 points. Pangelinan earned a total of 47 points after topping the April race bringing her total score to 181.

Nanako placed third in the fourth series race after placing fifth in the first heat to earn 16 points, and second in the second heat to gain 22 points. She placed third overall with a score of 38, bringing her overall score up to 177 putting her just below Pangelinan.

Landing second place in the fourth leg of the series was Shaniah Alvarez who placed third in both heats to gain a total of 40 points. She remains No. 3 in the class with a total of 155 points.

For the last four races, Pangelinan and Nanako have been alternating the pole position.

In the series race back in January, Pangelinan took the lead with 47 points with Nanako following closely with 45 points.

Later, Nanako got back the lead in the February race after gaining 47 points, bringing her total up to 92 with Pangelinan also holding a total score of 92.

In the March race, Nanako held the lead after gaining 47 points to bring her total up to 139. However, Pangelinan kept a close tail on Nanako, gaining 42 points to bring her total up to 134.

Meanwhile, in the Novice class Kier Agda continues to lead after gaining a total of 45 points during the April series race, bringing his total score up to 181. Agda placed third in the first heat to earn 20 points but redeemed himself in the second heat, winning first to gain 25 points.

Coming in at second is Henry Camacho Jr. who earned 44 points last April to bump his overall score up to 163. Camacho placed second in both heats for 22 points each.

Rounding up the Top 3 last April is class No. 3 Corry Pangelinan who earned 37 points overall during the fourth leg of the race to bump his overall score to 146. Pangelinan placed first in the first heat for 25 points before losing the lead in the second heat and placing seventh for 12 points.
