Paire/Hawaiian Rock pounds Kanoa

Paire Football Club /Hawaiian Rock regrouped quickly following a loss to Sun Palace after hammering Kanoa, 7-1, in their Division A game in the M-League last Sunday at the Hopwood Middle School Field.

Yuya Kunimune and Ajani Burrell teamed up in Paire Football/Hawaiian Rock’s lopsided as the former scored four goals and the latter added three. Kunimune caught fire early, as he already made a hat trick with less than 15 minutes gone by in the first half. He started his string of goals in the fifth minute, while his second and third came in the 10th and 11th.

Burrell made it a 4-0 advantage for Paire Football/Hawaiian Rock with his shot in the 12th minute, while Wai Woo Lee finally countered for Kanoa four minutes later. Burell then got the one goal back with his second conversion in the 26th minute and he also nailed Paire Football /Hawaiian Rock’s last goal in the 44th, 12 minutes after Kunimune got his fourth.

With the victory, Paire Football/Hawaiian Rock stayed in the middle of the pack with its 2-0-3 win-draw-loss record, while Kanoa dropped to a 1-1-3 slate, just slight ahead of cellar dweller Sun Palace (1-0-4).

In other results in Division A, the CNMI U18 National Team regained the top spot after it defeated Sun Palace, 5-1, and erstwhile leader MP United lost to TanHoldings, 0-3.

Terrance Montenegro lifted the Teen Ayuyus to the easy win over Sun Palace after logging three goals. Thaiphi Austria and Joshua Abragan contributed one apiece, while Sun Palace’s lone goal came from Daniel Agulto.

TanHoldings foiled MP United’s bid to stay at the No. 1 spot in the team standings of the six-squad field after playing good defense and shutting down the latter.

On offense, TanHoldings leaned on the two goals of Martin Jambor and one from Yohei Kamikawa.

DIVISION B
Shirley’s-1 3, Thundercats 2
Shirley’s-1 took the solo lead in the division following a close win against the Thundercats.

Shirley’s now has a 4-1-0 record, one victory ahead of Kanoa (3-2-0) and Shirley’s-1 (3-1-1).

Kosuke Sato registered the winning goal for Shirley’s-1 in the 50th minute or a minute after the Thundercats equalized off Sung Bae Park’s shot. Jun Liu knocked in the two earlier goals for the division leader with his first recorded in the 15th minute and the second in the 39th, while Don Cabrera scored the other goal for the Thundercats in the 46th minute.

The Thundercats are still winless in five games to remain at the bottom half of the team standings in the eight-squad field.

Kanoa 2, Shirley’s-2 2
Kanoa, which joined Shirley’s-1 on top in Week 4 of the league, dropped to second after a draw against Shirley’s-2.

Kirt Andon hit the game-tying goal in the 54th minute, as Kanoa escaped an impending win after making both its goals in the second half. Ian Maniago gave Kanoa its first goal (47th minute) in the second half.

Shirley’s-1 drew its pair of goals from Louie Ryu, whose back-to-back shots were logged in the 22nd and 29th minute.

KFAS 4, WNT 3
Korean Football Association on Saipan got its second win this season after nipping the CNMI Women’s National Team.

Edwin Kim made a hat trick for KFAS, posting them in succession to give his team enough cushion against the WNT. Edwin scored in the 48th, 51st, and 53rd minute, while Yeong Gil Kim earned the other goal for KFAS in the 38th.

Three different players made it to the board for the winless WNT (0-0-5) with Diana Maniacop drawing first blood in the 10th minute and Britanny Wally and Gillian Villagomez finding their targets in the 36th and 50th, respectively.

Matansa 3, Sun Palace 0
Matansa finally broke into the win column after four botched attempts as it blanked Sun Palace in the opening game in the division last weekend.
Kamrul Kamrul, Amzad Khan, and Al-Amin Fnu scored the three goals for Matansa in the second half.
