Paire Football Club’s U10 team leaves for Guam today to compete in its first off-island tournament.

The squad is composed of Grafton Howard, Dylan Mister, John Sohn, Miles Borja, Keondre Lee Females, Victoria Torres, and Nathanette Blas. Patricia Coleman is the coach and the team will be participating in the Guam Football Federation-hosted “Grassroots 3v3 Tournament” this weekend.

“This will be the first youth team for Paire FC to go off-island. It will also be NMIFA’s youngest club team to go off-island for football so far. Our club was invited by Guam Football Association to enter U10 and U12 teams. Our U12 players have an NMIFA Cup game this weekend, so they will not able to go to Guam this time. We will be entering two U10 teams in the 3v3 tournament on Saturday,” Coleman said yesterday before the team had its last training session at the San Vicente Elementary School Field.

In the 3v3 event, Paire’s first team will be playing against Islanders Apaka, Sidekicks Silver, Destroyers, and Tiger Sharks, while the second squad will collide against Crushers Big, Tigers, Beasts, and Islanders Betde. Participating teams will play two 10-minute halves at the artificial field of GFA’s football facility in Harmon.

Coleman said their debut tournament in Guam will encourage the club’s young players to spend more time with the ball and on the field.

“It will be a good experience for the kids to play against players from Guam and hopefully it will motivate them to spend more time on the ball. This trip will motivate players to try out for national teams so that they can continue their development, as well as gain invaluable experience of traveling to other places and interacting with people from other cultures,” Coleman said.

Torres said she is looking forward to the experience of playing in Guam and promise to do her best in every game. Howard, on the other hand, said he will enjoy every game and make new friends, while Borja vows to show great sportsmanship on and off the pitch.

Besides the 3v3 tournament, Paire’s U10 team will also have a friendly game against Islands FC this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the club would like to thank the following for making their participation to the Guam tournament possible: Tan Holdings, NMIFA, Naked Fish, The Shack, Northern Marianas College, Rob Travilla, Ray Travilla, Family of Maui Johnson, Marie and Falangi Tonuu, Derek Chambers, Maria Ornes, parents, volunteers, Docomo Pacific, and all the supporters of Paire.
