Pair Football Club edged Sun Palace, 2-1, in their Division A game in the M-League last Sunday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
Tadaomi Yasuda scored the winning goal for Paire in the 53rd minute. Five minutes earlier, Sun Palace tied the match, thanks to Cosmos Kim’s shot. Chris Nelson gave Paire the lead in the first half with his goal in the 11th minute.
With the close win, Paire moved up to third place, tying Sun Palace, as the two teams hold identical 2-1-3 win-draw-loss record.
In the other Division A match, MP United clobbered Matansa, 12-0, to improve to a 6-0-0 record—the best in the field.
Fumikazu Sukenari scored six goals for MP United, while Tenorio added three. Evan Belcher and Yoshi Mafnas chipped in two each, while Nao Habagishi contributed one.
With MP United shutting down Matansa, the latter remained at the bottom of the team standings, holding a 1-0-6 card. Tan Holdings (5-0-1) and Korean Football Association on Saipan (1-0-4) complete the field with the former gaining its fifth victory via forfeiture as KFAS did not have enough players for last weekend’s match.
In Division B matches, Shirley’s Football Club and NMI U16 won their respective games.
Shirley’s downed the Thundercats, 2-1, while NMI U16 got a free victory (via forfeiture) over Dragon FC. NMI U16 now has a 5-1-0 record to keep the second spot in the division behind idle Kanoa FC (6-0-0). Shirley’s, which got its two goals from Panapa Peteru and Gota Kawakami, is also not far behind Kanoa with its 5-1-2 slate. The Thundercats, whose lone goal came from Timothy Tawanpiy, are in fourth place with their 2-1-4 record.
