Shirley’s shut out Tan Holdings FC on March 30 at the Oleai Sports Complex Field, 7-0, to remain unbeaten in the six-team field, while Paire edged Matansa on March 31 at the Hopwood Junior High School Field, 2-1, for its second win in as many games. MP United also played at the Hopwood pitch on March 31 and settled for a scoreless draw against Independents and then the former dueled Tan Holdings FC in another scoreless match last Friday at the Oleai field.

In the Tan Holdings FC-Shirley’s tiff, the former got two early goals to set the tone in the lopsided game. Lalaine Pagarao scored just six minutes into the game and Melody Johnson made it a 2-0 count four minutes later. Pagarao then got her second goal in the 26th minute for Shirley’s 3-0 halftime advantage.

Tan Holdings defenders failed to neutralize Pagarao in the second half, as the Shirley’s FC strike nailed two more goals, making her third in the 50th minute and her fourth in the 64th. Johnson also scored in the second half, nine minutes before the game wrapped up, while Angie Ito broke into the scoreboard in the last minute of the one-sided match.

In the Paire-Matansa match, details were unavailable at press time, but the winning squad scored one goal each in the first and second half, while Matansa nailed its lone goal in the final 45 minutes of play.

Matansa has yet to win this season and was scheduled to face Shirley’ FC last Saturday in the first game at the Hopwood pitch. In the second match, Paire was set to duel Independents FC. Results of neither match were unavailable at press time.

Meanwhile, action in Week 4 of the women’s league will start this Friday with Independents takings on Tan Holdings at 7:15pm at the Oleai pitch, Matansa meeting MP United at 8:30am, and Paire challenging Shirley’s at 10:30am this Saturday. Both Saturday games will be played at the Hopwood pitch.
