Paire Football Club and Shirley’s FC clinched the championships in the 2017 Dove Women’s Spring League after getting the best records in their respective divisions.

Paire registered an 8-1-1 win-draw-loss mark in Division A to beat three other teams, while Shirley’s prevailed against four other squads after earning a 6-1-1 mark in the double-round robin competition.

The Division A champion took the spring title against Kanoa FC (5-0-4), MP United-TanHoldings FC (4-1-4), and Shirley’s FC (0-2-8). MPU-TanHoldings and Kanoa will play in the last game of the season on May 20 to determine the runner-up in the division.

Paire had the division crown in the bag as early as last month, but still stood out in the last stages of the competition, winning two of its final three games. The squad capped its title conquest this season with a 3-2 victory against Shirley’s FC last Sunday at the Chacha Oceanview Middle School Field.

Jeraldine Castillo knocked in all the goals for Paire, making her first two in the eighth and 21st minute and completing the hat trick in the 48th. Shirley’s got its two goals from Katrina Costales and Jasmine Phan in the 18th and 29th minute, respectively.

Paire had two make-up games last Sunday, but was forced to forfeit its first assignment against MP United-TanHoldings due to lack of players, while it won its other rescheduled match via forfeit versus Kanoa last Friday. Paire finished the season with 36 goals—the most by any team in the entire league—and yielded seven—the least allowed by any squad in Division A.

In other results in Division A, Kanoa notched a pair of victories over the weekend after forfeiting their game against Kanoa last Friday. Kanoa first downed Shirley’s in the Saturday make-up match, 7-2, and then edged MP United-TanHoldings last Sunday, 3-2.

Phan hit the winning-goal for Kanoa in their close victory over MP United-TanHoldings, while Janelle Chojnacki scored the first two. Britanny Wally and Gillian Villagomez handed MP United-TanHoldings one goal each.

In the Kanoa-Shirley’s tiff, Jeralyn Castillo led the winning team with her hat trick. Sarah Allen chipped in two, while Mikky Vargas and Khristelle Itaas added one apiece. Stephanie Lumbad and Marielle Gariguez scored the two goals in Shirley’s last match in Division A.

In Division B, Shirley’s faced MP United for its final game and forced a draw, 1-all.

Katherine Magat gave Shirley’s the equalizer, while Isabel Dickinson scored for MP United, which finished second in the division with its 4-4-0 record. Kagman High School (3-1-4), Paire (1-4-3), and Kanoa (0-2-6) rounded out the final team standings.

Paire broke into the win column after a 2-0 triumph over Kagman last Sunday. Aaliyah Indalecio and Anisa Villagomez tallied one goal each for Paire, recording both of them in the second half.

With the pair of goals, Paire brought its total to four, avoiding the cellar, which was occupied by Kanoa after scoring only one goal. Shirley’s had the most goals in the division with 19, while MP United and Kagman collected 14 and six, respectively.
