Paire on top; Kanoa wins opener

Pairs Football Club moved to the solo lead in the Masters Division, while Kanoa Football Club won its season debut in Division A of the 2020 Dove Women’s Spring League.

Kanoa defeated TanHoldings Football Club, 4-1, last Wednesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville, while Paire crushed Matansa, 7-0, last Sunday at the TSL Sports Complex.

The shutout win gave Paire its second victory in as many matches and put the team ahead of MP United, Kanoa, TanHoldings, and Matansa. Kanoa also played in the Masters Division last weekend and edged TanHoldings, 2-1, to make it to the win column.

In Division A, Paulyn Joyce delivered a pair of goals in Kanoa’s triumph over TanHoldings, while Irish Pagarao and Sharmaine Francisco chipped in one apiece. TanHoldings drew its lone goal from Britanny Wally. TanHoldings absorbed its first loss of the season, failing to have a follow-up on its 6-1 victory over Shirley’s in the league opener.

In Division B, TanHoldings and Paire notched easy wins, while MP United 1 and Shirley’s settled for a draw, 6-6.

TanHoldings walloped MP United 2, 6-1. Rizza Ralucio and Julie Capayas knocked in two goals apiece for TanHoldings, while Claire Barrozo and Tamia Hix contributed one each. Bunruang Brasuel scored the only goal for MP United.

Paire eased past Kanoa, 5-0, behind the hat trick of Shawna Brennfleck, while Lindsay Davis and Natalie Hill-Beyer added one goal each in their first victory of the season in Division B.

In the MP United 1-Shirley’s tiff, Heather Zona had a pair of goals for the former, while Soledad Quan, Ivan Claire Gozum, Kayla Atalig, and Samantha Babauta chipped in one each. Marielle Gariguez led Shirley’s with her three goals, while Megan Elayda had two. Shirley’s got an own goal at the closing minutes of the first half.
